Parasite Prevention
Parasites commonly cause disease in cats and dogs. Parasites can live on the skin (ectoparasites) or inside the body (endoparasites). Understanding more about external and internal parasites can help you prevent parasitic diseases in your pet. We recommend annual fecal testing for internal parasites and will check your pet for the presence of external parasites, such as fleas or ticks, during all physical examinations. We also recommend monthly heartworm and flea and tick prevention, regardless of whether your pet goes outside or is strictly indoor. You can carry fleas on your shoes or pant legs. From outside to inside a mosquito carrying heartworms can enter your house thru an open door or window. Discuss your pet's needs and our veterinarian's recommendations at your next appointment, or call us today for more information on the products we carry.
